As I watched the rain drive down sideways for most of the day–and heard on the radio that the winds at my oft-photographed Rye Playland park reached 81 mph this afternoon–I planned on a house-prowl for my photo of the day. But late in the afternoon the weather calmed and the sun made a brief appearance, so I raced down to the beach, the crazed antithesis of one of those loony tornado chasers, hoping for some peace and great light. Great light, maybe, peace…not so much. The wind whipped my hair around and made my eyes water so much I could barely see through the viewfinder, but I did notice the back light on all the seagulls who were evidently enjoying the good feeding in the churning water. The shot’s a bit of a mess, but I think it captures the feel of the light and the wind.
