This is a remarkable post for one reason, and one reason only; today was the first day–in 395 days–that I did not take a single photo; this is a shot I took yesterday at at the little waterfall in my nearby park, a companion piece to yesterday’s photo, if you will. Hand-held in the driving rain, blurry and a bit of a mess, but something about its film noir mood appeals to me.
I really didn’t want to miss a daily (hey, 395 days a row is an accomplishment–I was shooting for day 400), but the weather could really only be described in terms of the wrath of God. The winds reached a reported 70 mph in our town, and roughly 1/3 of the town lost power. (God bless my husband, who last year insisted we install a generator; the entire neighborhood was black as pitch and we were humming along with lights and a hot dinner.)
The generator was a double blessing because we’re packing for the Caribbean….Jim and I are off to Turks & Caicos for a week; no kids, no dogs, no responsibilities, and god willing, no Nor’Easters.
