This upended stump is a remnant from last March’s massive storm; this tree was literally ripped from its roots, and the town tree people have yet to come and clear it away. For lack of a better idea–and not expecting much to come of it–I took a picture of it today, but when I opened it on my computer screen I found its rather surrealistic nature kind of interesting. The sight of a stump is so very commonplace, but one on its side is rather weird and disconcerting. I like that.
