I cast a wider net (location-wise) today and headed down to Rye Playland for my photo of the day. I’m not sure why I’ve never thought of going here to photograph before (it’s only 15 minutes from home), but I’m glad I did…there is much to photograph here. The day was bitterly cold, and the only upside was that the place was nearly deserted.
Built in 1927, the waterside amusement park was America’s first totally planned amusement park and a prototype for today’s theme parks. Now slightly dilapidated but full of interesting Art Deco architecture, it is a National Historic Landmark. I’ll be back.
