We had a non-traditional Christmas here in Cambodia, opting for a Buddhist Water Blessing to celebrate the holiday. Expecting a gentle sprinkling of holy water, we were treated instead to a 20 minute pelting of water–delivered with gusto by this monk–shown here tying a string on my daughter’s wrist to remind us of the ceremony. (Believe me, string or no string, it’s not an experience any of us will ever forget.) Our guide took a few pictures of us, wrapped in colorful sarongs and dripping wet, but you’re going to have to be a Facebook friend to see those. 🙂
