It was cloudy and gray most of the day, but as evening approached the sun started to peek through the clouds. Jim and I went for a lovely, late walk with the dog in a 780-acre nature preserve just up the street from our rental house (where we saw nary a soul), then headed out to the western end of Nantucket, hoping that there would be a photo-worthy sunset. Having not one interesting photo of the day, this was a bit of a Hail Mary venture, but I was pleasantly rewarded by this scene on Madaket Beach about 45 minutes before the sun went down. I should have waited for the sun to actually set, but it was well past dinner time after a long and active day on this beautiful island.
